SAN BRUNO, Calif. - With the West Coast Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament tipping off this Thursday, the WCC takes a look back at some of the event's all-time great performers. Each day, leading up to the day before the championships begin (March 1), the WCC will recognize one male and one female former student-athlete for their achievements during the WCC Tournament. This year's event marks the 20th anniversary of the men's tournament and the 15th anniversary of the women's tournament. On Day 6, the WCC looks back at former WCC Tournament greats Jason Keep of San Diego and Damaris Hinojosa of Pepperdine.

WCC Tournament All-Time Great Performers: Day 6

SAN DIEGO - Jason Keep (2003)
In one season at San Diego, Jason Keep led the Toreros to their first WCC Tournament title in 2003. Keep, a 6'10" 280 lbs. senior transfer from Oklahoma State, averaged a double-double in the WCC Tournament, scoring 18.5 points per game to go along with 10.5 rebounds.

Keep turned in a monster performance in the Toreros' 72-63 semifinal win over USF, dropping in 19 points to go along with 15 rebounds.

San Diego faced Gonzaga in the championship game and Keep didn't disappoint, dropping in a team-high 18 points, while hauling in six boards to lead the Toreros to the tournament title and the third NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.

PEPPERDINE - Damaris Hinojosa (2000-2003)
Pepperdine became just the second program to capture back-to-back WCC Tournament championships in 2002 and 2003, and three-time all-conference performer Damaris Hinojosa was the catalyst for the Waves' high-powered offense.

Hinojosa was tabbed for tournament MVP honors in 2002 after scoring 43 points, with 22 of them coming in a semifinal win over San Francisco, and leading Pepperdine to its first-ever conference tournament crown.

The guard was also tabbed for WCC all-tournament honors as a freshman after guiding the Waves to the tournament championship game in 2000. Hinojosa currently ranks third on the conference's tournament scoring chart with 124 points.
